  89. To decompress a ".exe" file in OS/2, double-click on the ".exe" 
  90.  
  91. file or execute it from the command line by typing the filename.

  95. INSTALLATION NOTES
  96.  
  97. To install Acrobat, it is no longer necessary to create a 
  98.  
  99. temporary directory, since Acrobat now cleans up after itself. 
  100.  
  101. All you need to do is execute OS2RD3B2.EXE. Depending on how you 
  102.  
  103. downloaded this file, it could be anywhere on your hard 
  104.  
  105. drive(s). One common location where IBM(R) WebExplorer leaves 
  106.  
  107. downloaded files is C:\TCPIP\BIN. In this instance, you would 
  108.  
  109. type:
  110.  
  111.  
  112.  
  113. C:\TCPIP\BIN\OS2RD3B2.EXE
  114.  
  115.  
  116.  
  117. This will start the installation program. When the first dialog 
  118.  
  119. box comes up, read the screen carefully, and then click the 
  120.  
  121. Continue button. The next screen will come up and ask you if you 
  122.  
  123. wish to install this product. Click the OK button.
  124.  
  125.  
  126.  
  127. Next, the Adobe End-User License Agreement page comes up. Read 
  128.  
  129. the entire document and then click on Accept if you agree to the 
  130.  
  131. license, or Do Not Accept to abort installation.
  132.  
  133.  
  134.  
  135. Once you accept the Agreement, the Install - directories dialog 
  136.  
  137. box will come up. You must make sure that the Installation 
  138.  
  139. directory has enough disk drive space to hold the program. The 
  140.  
  141. default directory is C:\ACROBAT3\READOS2. If you would like to 
  142.  
  143. change the location for Acrobat, do so now by editing the 
  144.  
  145. displayed text. Once you have chosen a directory, click the Disk 
  146.  
  147. space button. If the "Bytes available" on the drive for the 
  148.  
  149. directory you chose exceeds the "Bytes needed" number, click the 
  150.  
  151. OK button; otherwise, select another drive, then click the OK 
  152.  
  153. button. This will automatically change your installation 
  154.  
  155. directory to an equivalent directory on that drive letter.
  156.  
  157.  
  158.  
  159. Once you have done this, you may click the Install button. When 
  160.  
  161. the progress bar completes, you should see a screen that says 
  162.  
  163. "The requested components of Acrobat Reader for OS/2 are 
  164.  
  165. successfully installed." When you click OK, the Installer should 
  166.  
  167. exit. Your installation is complete.
  168.

  170.  
  171. Once you have installed the Reader on your machine, you may 
  172.  
  173. delete the self-extracting archive program (OS2RD3B2.EXE), or 
  174.  
  175. you may choose to move it to a network drive for installations 
  176.  
  177. for additional users.  To distribute it on floppies, use the 
  178.  
  179. OS/2 BACKUP and RESTORE commands (or some equivalent utility) 
  180.  
  181. since the archive file is larger than what one floppy will hold. 
  182.  
  183.  
  184.  
  185. You'll now have an Adobe Acrobat folder on your desktop. 
  186.  
  187. Double-click that folder, then double-click the Acrobat Reader 
  188.  
  189. program to start Acrobat. If you had trouble installing, check 
  190.  
  191. the INST_L1.LOG file in the c:\os2\install directory.

  197. You can't execute the installer from a path that has spaces in

  199. it. This is a problem with the IBM installer.

  219. THIS IS A CONTRACT. BY INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE YOU ACCEPT ALL

  225. This Adobe Systems Incorporated ("Adobe") End User License

  227. Agreement for Unreleased Software accompanies an unreleased

  229. (Alpha or Beta) version of an Adobe software product and related 
  230.  
  231. explanatory materials ("Software"). The term "Software" shall 
  232.  
  233. also include any upgrades, modified versions or updates of the 
  234.  
  235. Software licensed to you by Adobe. This copy of the Software is 
  236.  
  237. licensed to you as the end user. Please read this Agreement 
  238.  
  239. carefully.

  243. Adobe grants to you a nonexclusive license to use the Software 
  244.  
  245. for evaluation and trial use purposes only, provided that you 
  246.  
  247. agree to the following:

  251. 1. Use of the Software.

  255. You may install the Software in a single location on a hard disk 
  256.  
  257. or other storage device; install and use the Software on a file

  281. The Software is owned by Adobe and its suppliers, and its

  287. United States Copyright Law and International Treaty provisions.

  289. You agree not to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer,

  291. decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to discover the 
  292.  
  293. source code of the Software. You may use trademarks only to 
  294.  
  295. identify printed output produced by the Software, in accordance 
  296.  
  297. with accepted trademark practice, including identification of 
  298.  
  299. trademark owner's name. Such use of any trademark does not give 
  300.  
  301. you any rights of ownership in that trademark. Except as stated 
  302.  
  303. above, this Agreement does not grant you any intellectual 
  304.  
  305. property rights in the Software.

  309. 3. Cooperation with Adobe.

  313. During the term of this Agreement, you will provide feedback to 
  314.  
  315. Adobe regarding testing and use of the Software, including error 
  316.  
  317. or bug reports.

  321. 4. No Warranty.

  325. You acknowledge that the Software is a pre release version, does 
  326.  
  327. not represent final product from Adobe, and may contain bugs, 
  328.  
  329. errors and other problems that could cause system failures.

  331. Consequently, the Software is provided to you "AS IS, " and 
  332.  
  333. Adobe disclaims any warranty or liability obligations to you of 
  334.  
  335. any kind. You acknowledge that Adobe has not promised or 
  336.  
  337. guaranteed to you that such Software will be announced or made 
  338.  
  339. available to anyone in the future, that Adobe has no express or 
  340.  
  341. implied obligation to you to announce or introduce the Software 
  342.  
  343. and that Adobe may not introduce a product similar or compatible 
  344.  
  345. with the Software.

  349. Accordingly, you acknowledge that any research or development 
  350.  
  351. that you perform regarding the Software or any product 
  352.  
  353. associated with the Software is done entirely at your own risk.

  355. ADOBE AND ITS SUPPLIERS DO NOT AND CANNOT WARRANT THE 
  356.  
  357. PERFORMANCE OR RESULTS YOU MAY OBTAIN BY USING THE SOFTWARE OR

  359. DOCUMENTATION. ADOBE AND ITS SUPPLIERS MAKE NO WARRANTIES, 
  360.  
  361. EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS, 
  362.  
  363. MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO 
  364.  
  365. EVENT WILL ADOBE OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY 
  366.  
  367. CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST 
  368.  
  369. PROFITS OR LOST SAVINGS, EVEN IF AN ADOBE REPRESENTATIVE HAS 
  370.  
  371. BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY 
  372.  
  373. CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY.

  377. Some states or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or

  379. limitation of incidental, consequential or special damages, or 
  380.  
  381. the exclusion of implied warranties or limitations on how long a

  383. n implied warranty may last, so the above limitations may not

  385. apply to you.

  389. 5. Termination of Use.

  393. Upon receipt of a later unreleased version of the Software or a

  395. publicly released commercial version of the Software, you agree

  397. to destroy all earlier unreleased versions of the Software 
  398.  
  399. received from Adobe and to abide by the terms of the End User 
  400.  
  401. License Agreement for any such later versions of the Software. 
  402.  
  403. Notwithstanding anything in this paragraph to the contrary, if 
  404.  
  405. you are located outside the United States of America, you agree 
  406.  
  407. that you will return or destroy all unreleased versions of the 
  408.  
  409. Software within thirty (30) days of the completion of your 
  410.  
  411. testing of the Software if such date is earlier than the date 
  412.  
  413. for Adobe's first commercial shipment of the publicly released 
  414.  
  415. (commercial) Software.

  419. 6. Governing Law and General Provisions.

  423. This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of 
  424.  
  425. California, U.S.A., excluding the application of its conflicts 
  426.  
  427. of law rules. This Agreement will not be governed by the United 
  428.  
  429. Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of 
  430.  
  431. Goods, the application of which is expressly excluded. If any 
  432.  
  433. part of this Agreement is found void and unenforceable, it will 
  434.  
  435. not affect the validity of the balance of the Agreement, which 
  436.  
  437. shall remain valid and enforceable according to its terms. You 
  438.  
  439. agree that the Software will not be shipped, transferred or 
  440.  
  441. exported into any country or used in any manner prohibited by 
  442.  
  443. the United States Export Administration Act or any other export 
  444.  
  445. laws, restrictions or regulations. This Agreement shall 
  446.  
  447. automatically terminate upon failure by you to comply with its 
  448.  
  449. terms.

  453. This Agreement may only be modified in writing signed by an 
  454.  
  455. authorized officer of Adobe.

  459. 7. Notice to Government End Users.

  463. If this product is acquired under the terms of a: GSA contract- 
  464.  
  465. Use, reproduction or disclosure is subject to the restrictions

  467. set forth in the applicable ADP Schedule contract; DoD contract- 
  468.  
  469. Use, duplication or disclosure by the Government is subject to 
  470.  
  471. restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) of 
  472.  
  473. 252.227-7013; Civilian agency contract- Use, reproduction, or

  475. disclosure is subject to 52.227-19 (a) through (d) and
